Photo & Video Upload Limits and Recommended Settings

  • Updated

Overview

BookingCentral supports photo and video uploads during the Check In and Check Out process. To ensure reliable uploads and optimal performance, uploaded media files are limited to a maximum file size of 50 MB per file.

For videos, the maximum recording length will vary depending on the resolution used by your device.

Approximate Video Lengths by Resolution

Resolution Approximate Maximum Length
720p HD Up to 60 seconds
1080p Full HD Up to 40 seconds
4K Ultra HD Up to 15 seconds

Actual file sizes may vary depending on your device, camera settings, frame rate, and video compression.

Recommended Video Resolution

While higher resolutions capture more detail, they also create larger file sizes that:

  • Take longer to upload
  • Require a stronger internet connection
  • Consume more mobile data
  • Drain battery life more quickly while recording and uploading

For most rental operators, 720p resolution provides the best balance between video quality and upload performance.

Our Recommendations

✅ 720p HD — Recommended for most check-in and check-out videos.

✅ 1080p Full HD — Use when additional detail is needed.

❌ 4K Ultra HD — Generally not recommended due to larger file sizes, longer upload times, increased battery usage, and a higher likelihood of upload failures in areas with weak cellular or Wi-Fi coverage.

Best Practices

To ensure successful uploads:

  • Keep videos short and focused on the area being documented.
  • Use 720p resolution whenever possible.
  • Upload videos while connected to a strong Wi-Fi or cellular signal.
  • If connectivity is limited, save videos to your device and upload them later when a stronger connection is available.
