If you require a damage deposit authorization for your rentals or activity, then you are able to set up a damage deposit option in the system.
Damage Deposit feature is available to Enterprise customers only. It can be enabled by request.
See below the steps to take to set up a damage deposit in your account.
Setting up a damage deposit
With damage deposit enabled, users can enter the damage deposit amount for each rental. The damage deposit can be set up under Settings - Rentals - select rental - Price List.
Tours (Tickets) and Retail items do not have the damage deposit option at this time.
There are 4 options for damage deposit:
- None
- Percentage (of rental’s total price)
- Fixed amount
- Fixed amount (per unit)
The system will add the damage deposit amount for each line item, so if you book two rentals types (i.e. pontoon and jet ski) in the same booking, then the damage deposit will be added for each (if enabled).
Setting up damage deposit auto release
By default, damage deposits are released when they expire by the credit card processor. For Stripe this is 7 days for manually entered credit card information and 2 days for EMV / Card Reader authorizations.
The default can be modified under Settings - Payments.
The 'hold until' options are:
- Hold until release by processor (7 days)
- Hold until 3 hours after end of activity
- Hold until 24 hours after end of activity
- Hold until midnight on last day of activity
- Hold until midnight the day after the last day of activity
