If you want to create a rental type that includes multiple resources, you can do that using the Resource Groups.
This article will explain how to create Resource Groups and assign resources from the groups to a packaged rental.
Resource Groups
The main purpose of Resource Groups are to create a Packaged Rental item that includes multiples of the same resources OR multiples of different resource types.
Examples: You offer a rental type that includes Two Jet Skis. You want to offer a packaged rental option that includes a Pontoon Boat and a Kayak.
To create Resource Groups:
- Go to Settings - Resources - Resource Groups
- Select + Add Resource Group to create the group name (e.g. Jet Skis)
Assign a Resource to a Resource Group
Once you name your Resource Groups, you'll have the option to assign each resource to a group in the settings.
- Go to Settings - Resources
- Select the resource from the list or create a new one
- Select the Resource Group for the resource
- Continue to assign your resources to a Resource Group.
Assigning a Resource to a Resource Group
You can see a list of your resource groups by going to Settings - Resource Groups.
Create a Packaged Rental
The creation of resource groups now allows you to build a packaged rental offering. This is useful if you want to offer a rental item with 2 of the same resource (i.e. a pair of jet skis) or a rental with two different types of resources (i.e. a pontoon and a kayak).
To create a Packaged Rental:
- Go to Settings - Rentals
- Select + Add Rental
- The Rental Name should be descriptive so the customer knows it's a package (i.e. Pair of Jet Skis)
- Follow the steps here to setup this rental
- In the Resources tab of the Rental Settings, select the Resource Group
- Choose the quantity from the each Resource Group that is included in the packaged rental.
When a customer books this packaged rental, the availability of the resources will be reduced by the quantity indicated (i.e. 2 jet skis). You will clearly be able to see the resources used from the Calendar.
